HappyDays #35

HappyDays #35

Hello, fellow Happy-Dayers!

I’ve hope you’ve survived this absolute scorcher of a week and that it’s been filled with lots of happy things! I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to! My co-host, Katy, is off on her jollies in France at the moment but I know she’s scheduled a Happy Days post for today so do pop over and say “hello”.

This linky is a place to share your happy blog posts and give yourself that warm fuzzy feeling by reading everybody else’s. Anything ‘happy-themed’ is welcome!

Oh Happy Days

This week my shout-out this week goes to…

Hannah and the Mini Beasts

Hannah linked up with a post all about making the most of living near the seaside (I am turning green here!) and shared some beautiful photos of her boys enjoying themselves at the beach. I thought it was the perfect summer-time read. :)

So what’s been making me happy this week?

  • Jasmine played in her paddling for the first time and absolutely adored it. It has been so much fun watching her splash about and giggle in it.

  • After gaining weight two weeks in a row at Slimming World (oops!), I finally had a loss this week. I feel like I’m back on track – I’m only 3lbs away from my target weight now.
  • Last minute holiday planning (watch this space!) ;)
  • Meeting my friend and her son for a drink at our local pub garden. Was lovely watching our babies play together.
  • Trying a new banana pancake recipe for breakfast and eating them alfresco.

  • Late evening walks with Heidi – it’s too hot to take her out during the day so we’ve been taking her out after dinner. It’s such a lovely time of day at this time of the year.

Now it’s over to you…

Freshening up our home: A Wishlist

Freshening up our home: A Wishlist

It’s no surprise that with a toddler and Mini Schnauzer (who has a penchant for eating things she shouldn’t) there are quite a few items in our home that need replacing. Either because they’re broken or purely because they are tired and worn out (and not in a “oooh that looks vintage” kinda way!)

I’ve been thinking about which items I would like to replace in our house and what with. (Somebody please hide my credit card!)

So, here is my homeware wishlist:

orange rose in blue vase with out of focus magazine and candles behind

Dining table chairs:

Our current dining table chairs are about 8 years old and they are my least favourite items in our kitchen. Their wooden legs are dented and scratched and the leather backs are covered in miscellaneous (non-removable – trust me, I’ve tried) stains. Not only that, they are far too big and bulky for the size of our current kitchen (we first had had the dining table and chairs in our old flat which had a large open-plan dining space).

What would I replace them with?

Naples250

Naples Dining Chair, Grey – £109.97 (Amazon)

I love these Naples Dining Chairs because of their colour and shape. The curved sides make them look chic and elegant and they look far less cumbersome than our current dining chairs. I’m also a sucker for anything grey when it comes to furniture.

Bookcase:

We have a bookcase in our conservatory which we keep all of our cookbooks on. This bookcase used to be in Stephen’s old bedroom… when he was a child! Needless to say, after being used for near enough 3 decades, it’s falling apart. And who could blame it for buckling under the pressure of all those big, heavy recipe books? It’s time it was replaced.

What I would replace it with?

231569806alt1

House by John Lewis Oxford 1×3 Unit £225.00

We’re really not looking for anything too fancy, purely something that is sturdy and does the job. This 3-shelf unit would be a perfect fit in our conservatory and has plenty of storage for our collection of cookbooks.

Dinnerware Set:

Every meal time it’s always an absolute mission to find plates that match. Over the years we’ve broken many of our plates and bowls and we’ved ended up with a lot of mismatched dinnerware. Normally, it’s not something that bothers us all that much (we’re usually more interested in what’s ON the plate). Having said that, I do find myself lusting over gorgeous sets of matching dinnerware. Also, on those rare occasions when we host dinner parties at ours, it would be nice to give everybody their food on matching plates!

What would I replace ours with?

I7544601500128_011_b10

Latte Dinnerware Set from Anthropologie – £44.00

This simple yet gorgeous set of dinnerware from Anthropologie would be perfect. It comes with x4 dinner plates, dessert plates and bowls.

Are there any items of homeware you would like to replace in your own home and why?

Hello and welcome to this week’s Happy Days Linky!

This is a place to share your happy blog posts and give yourself that warm fuzzy feeling by reading everybody else’s. I co-host this linky with the lovely Kate – so be sure to pop over to her blog and say ‘hello’.

Happy Days #34

This week my shout-out goes to Emma’s Mamma who shared a post all about the Swedish Midsummer tradition of picking wild flowers. Her photos were simply stunning and I really loved learning about the tradition. I’m hoping to go on wild-flower-picking and Pimms-drinking spree in next few weeks. So thank you for inspiring me! :)

This is what’s been making me happy this week…

  • Jasmine can now walk unaided and I am so, so proud of her!
  • The gorgeous flowers blooming in my back garden – they are so pretty!

A photo posted by Jenna (@_tinyfootsteps) on

  • Giving Jasmine tickles and watching her scrunch her face up when she giggles!

  • Dog walks on hot summer days. (Even though I end up having to carry Heidi home, which is quite frankly embarrassing for all involved!)
  • Picking my own strawberries each morning.

  • Going to Britmums and being with some of my favourite blogging pals. It’s so nice to spend time with people who ‘get it’.
  • Winning the boots #SummerGoodTimes competition at Britmums. I won lots of No.7 goodies!

  • Getting to see our wedding photos (I will share some soon, pwomise!)

Now it’s over to you…

HappyDays #33

HappyDays #33

Hello and happy weekend, fellow Happy-Dayers!

I’m back co-hosting the Happy Days Linky (with the lovely Katy) after a having wonderful wedding and honeymoon in North Devon. Thank you all for your kind words and wishes, it really meant a lot to me. As you can imagine, since being home I’ve been catching up on laundry and errands (talk about back to reality!) and haven’t had much time for anything else. I’m also in the middle of last-minute packing for Britmums tomorrow. So I’m going to keep it very simple this week and just share with you some things that have made me happy over the last couple of weeks.

ohhappydays

  • Getting married at beautiful Millbrook Estate in Devon. We followed our hearts and went with a ‘runaway wedding’. Just us, our girl, two witnesses and our photographer. It was everything we hoped it would be and more.
  • Getting to spend proper quality time with my little family.
  • Seeing my mum and step-dad for the first time in almost a year.
  • Spending time on Woolacombe beach.
  • Jasmine taking more and more steps by herself.
  • Being on the Mumsnet front page with this post about my ‘Peter Pan Syndrome’.
  • Getting ridiculously excited about seeing some of my wonderful bloggy friends at Britmums. I’m hoping to be even more inspired and motivated about blogging after the event.
  • A rare cinema trip with friends to see Pitch Perfect 2.
  • My new Instax camera that I got for my birthday.

Now it’s over to you…

HappyDays #32

Ahoy-hoy, Happy Dayers!

Today (Saturday 6th) is my birthday!!! Help yourself to slice of cake and let’s celebrate by gettin’ happy!

This linky is all about sharing your happy-themed blog posts and inspiring each other to make the most of every day. I co-host with the lovely Katy so don’t forget to pop over to her post and say ‘Hello’, if you haven’t already.

This week my shout out goes to…

cuddlefairy

Becky from Cuddle Fairy shared her fab blogging achievements with us last week, it’s astounding what she has managed to achieve in only two months. She also inspired me to order ‘The Game of Life‘ because after reading her post, it occurred to me that I have never, ever played it.

Please note: I will not be hosting The Happy Days Linky next week (the 13th June) as I’ll be on my honeymoon but I’ll be back the week after that with more wedding spam than you can shake a stick at. ;)

On to my week…

Fun at Home

It was Stephen’s birthday at the weekend so we had some of his family over for a BBQ on Saturday. We got very lucky with the weather and enjoyed plenty of sunshine out in the garden. We all had such a brilliant day and at one point it suddenly occurred to me that these lovely people are soon to be my family too. Having become estranged from my father and living so far away from my mum and brother, it’s means so much to me to not only gain a wonderful husband next week, but also wonderful and caring family too. I just wished they all lived closer!

1) A very smiley Jasmine with Bunny. 2) Selfie stick fun. I don’t even know who I am anymore… 3) Me and the fella spent the evening toasting and scoffing marshmallows… until we felt a bit sick. 4) Heidi staring at us longingly as we toasted said marshmallows.

On the Sunday I made Stephen’s White Chocolate and Raspberry birthday cake which went down very well indeed.

Out and About

Unfortunately, after such a lovely weekend things went a bit downhill when Stephen and I both woke up with stomach bugs on Monday morning (I hope it wasn’t my cake!). For most of the week we were stuck indoors clutching sick buckets and Jasmine pretty much had to fend for herself. I felt like the World’s Crappiest Mum but I was so poorly. Thankfully by Wednesday we we’re mostly back to our normal selves.

Time for me

I had a few pre-wedding pampering bits booked in for this week and although I couldn’t attend most of them because I was ill, I managed to go and get my hair cut on Wednesday evening. As I’m doing my own hair on the big day I wanted something very simple and easy to manage. After some great advice from my lovely friends, I decided to go for a long bob and I’m really pleased with it…

My Happiest Moment

Obviously this week has been quite tough on us as a family. With both of us being ill and having a small person to look after with nobody around for support, it’s been one of the toughest parenting experiences we’ve had thus far. My happiest moment was when we both started to feel well again.

But every cloud and all that, at least I got my 1 stone award at Slimming World on Thursday…

1 stone

Next week I would like to…

Get married!!!
