HappyDays #45

Hello Happy-dayers!

Welcome to this week’s Happy Days Linky – a place to link up your latest happy-themed blog posts and get that warm fuzzy feeling by reading other people’s. My co-host is the lovely Katy, be sure to pop over to her blog and say ‘hello’.

I’m back with you this week after taking a bit of bloggy break and having some quality family time on holiday in Norfolk. :) Unfortunately, this week we’ve all got colds and so we’re feeling pretty sorry for ourselves. Jasmine’s been waking up several times a night and we’re all feeling a bit knackered and rough around the edges. So what better time to write my happy list?!

Here’s what has been making me happy over the last couple of weeks:

  • We had such a fab holiday in Norfolk. We stayed in a little cottage in Holt which was the perfect base for exploring lots of the local beaches and seaside towns.
  • Getting a letter and CD (remember those?) in the post from my best friend, Jeni. You just cannot beat good old fashioned snail mail, can you?
  • I also received a pretty toad diary from the lovely Katie from Life On Vista Street – I’ve been using it loads this week and I feel so much more organised already!
  • I booked my Early Bird ticket for Mumsnet’s Blogfest in November. I really enjoyed it last year, although I was very overwhelmed as it was my first ever blogging conference. I’m hoping I’ll feel a bit more relaxed this time and enjoy it even more. Who else is going? :)
  •  Jasmine had two settling in sessions at nursery this week and she did really well. According to her key worker she ‘just got on with it’. That’s my girl! :)
  • After not attending my Slimming World group for most of the summer (it’s just too hectic with a toddler in toe) I went back yesterday. I am 0.5lb over my target weight but I’m sure I can get rid of that by next week.
  • And, on that note, I made Slimming World drop pancakes for Jasmine and I this morning (from the latest SW magazine) and they were so yummy. :)
  • You may remember that time I went dancing with strangers. Well, the DanceJoy folks are finally coming back to my town so I can start going dancing weekly again. I couldn’t make it this week but I’m hoping to go next Wednesday – I can’t wait to get my groove on!

Now it’s over to you to share some happy!

Hello Happy-dayers!

Welcome to this week’s Happy Days Linky – a place to link up your latest happy-themed blog posts and get that warm fuzzy feeling by reading other people’s. My co-host is the wonderful Katy so be sure to pop over to her blog and say ‘hello’.

Please note: I’m taking a break from hosting this linky next weekend so be sure to head over to Katy’s blog and share your happy posts with her. I’ll be back on the 19th September!

Here’s what has been making me happy this week:

  • Stephen took Jasmine out for the afternoon last Saturday so that I could go clothes shopping by myself. I can’t remember the last time I got to do that. I couldn’t find any clothes I liked but I did buy some new hair straighteners and a pull along toy for Jasmine so all was not lost!
  • Stephen and I had our second monthly date night. We went out for a 3 course meal and cocktails. I was ridiculously full afterwards!
  • Keeping Jasmine entertained on (yet more) rainy days with colouful straws. Such a simple activity but she loves it!

  • Making banana and dark chocolate muffins using A Mummy Too’s recipe.
  • I’ve just started reading Paper Towns by John Green and I’m really enjoying it so far. It reminds me of my teenage years. :)
  • We bought tickets for the Big Onion food festival which is on this weekend. Let’s hope the weather is good.

I’ve just realised I talk about food a lot in my Happy Days posts. What can I say? Food makes me happy! ;)

It only feels like two minutes ago that I was writing “It’s the start of the summer holidays!” and now they’re very nearly over. I hope that those of you who have had the kids home from school have enjoyed the break and made lots of special and happy memories. On a slightly selfish note, I’m glad that some of our toddler groups, that closed for summer, will be starting up again in September. We have really, really missed them.

Here’s what has been making me happy this week:

  • We made the most of the gorgeous weather on Saturday and headed to Holywells park in Ipswich. Jasmine experienced a spash park for the first time and it went down pretty well.

Jasmine spashpark

  • I used a can of condensed milk that had been sitting in the back of the cupboard for ages to make Butterscotch Fudge! Sooo yummy. (I used this recipe but substituted the orange chocolate for butterscotch chocolate.)
  • I’ve finally jumped on the ‘adult colouring in’ bandwagon and bought myself an ‘Anti-stress doodle book’ and some coloured pencils. I’m really enjoying it and find it so relaxing. If you fancy having a go, I found this website which has lots of printable images for you to colour in: http://www.coloring-pages-adults.com/
  • When In The Night Garden comes on TV, Jasmine grabs my hand and circles her forefinger on it, just like they do in the opening credits. *melts*
  • Today’s (Friday) weather is gorgeous. After a whole week of it bucketing down, it’s currently blue skies and sunshine outside. We’ve already been out for a lovely walk this morning (Jasmine’s walked the furthest distance she’s ever done) and we’ll definitely be heading out again after lunch.

Happy thought of the week:

Those who wish to sing

Apparently we’re in for some gorgeous weather today (here in the East, anyway) so we’ve planned a day out to a splash park – yay! I hope you all have something lovely planned too!

happiness is a sunny day

It’s been a really quiet week for us this week, we haven’t gone anywhere or done anything but for the first time in ages I have felt totally content. Just happy to potter about doing our own thing, filling our rainy days with cuddles and silly activities. Here’s the things that have been making me happy this week:

  • Jasmine has learned to blow kisses which is just the sweetest thing!
  • Finding a new favourite cider (Old Mout Cider in Passionfruit and Apple flavour in case you were interested!)
  • Watching a plane do loop-de-loops from my back garden. (We live near an airfield so we’re occasionally treated to our very own airshow!)
  • Heidi and Jasmine playing in the garden. Here’s a little GIF animation:

  • Getting an early night. (How boring am I?!)
  • Going to view a local (potential) nursery for Jasmine – it made me both terrified and excited.
  • Seeing my girl this happy…

HappyDays #41

Hi folks!

Welcome to this week’s Happy Days Linky – a place to link up your latest happy-themed blog posts and get that warm fuzzy feeling by reading other people’s. My co-host is the lovely Katy so be sure to pop over to her blog and say ‘hello’.

Here’s the things that have been making me happy this week:

    • Last weekend we visited Brandon Forest for the first time, I really enjoyed walking around there and taking in the beautiful scenery.
    • I made some giant chocolate chip cookies on Tuesday. They were A-MAZ-ING. The recipe is here if you fancy giving them a go!
    • Two of my best friends Laura and Sarah came up to visit me on Wednesday and Thursday. I’ve been really lonely over the last few weeks so it was lovely to have some adult company for two whole days.
    • Having a yummy meal out at Bill’s restaurant with my friends.
    • I won week one of Silver Mushroom’s Bloggers Bake Off competition with my Mini Madeira Cakes. I now have a fancy set of cake tins winging their way to me.
    • Finding a shop that sells THE best ice cream in town. I’ve been twice this week. ;)
    • Jasmine learning the sign for ‘Motorbike’. It’s sooo cute!
    • Laying out in the garden next to hubby and watching the meteor shower. It was totally magical… until the sky clouded over! Did anyone else see it?
    • Finding this V-tech Discovery tree toy in a charity shop. I spotted it in the window and knew Jasmine would adore it. When the lady working there told me I could have it for £4, I snapped it up. What a bargain!
