The ‘Concentrating Face’ {Living Arrows #15}

My word, this girl has been testing me over the last week. I’m going to chalk it up to the fact that she has two incisors cutting through at the moment – I mean, that can’t be fun for her?

Despite the grumpiness, we’ve been out to a couple of toddler groups – even if I did spend a lot of time swearing under my breath and asking myself why I even bother?! You know those mornings – it’s a battle to brush their teeth, a battle to put their coat on… to put their shoes on… to put them in the pushchair. You’re knackered before you’ve even left the house.

We got into town half an hour early for a toddler group on Friday (because we got a lift in with Stephen) and it was blummin’ freezing! We headed to the library to kill some time and get out of the cold.

Here is Jasmine’s super cute ‘concentrating face’ in all its glory… just moments before she turned into a mega-brat again. ;)

I love her, I really do. But I really hate those pesky incisors.

Smiling Again {Living Arrows #14}

I’m pleased to report that Jasmine is feeling much better this week. In fact, she has well and truly recovered from her chest infection. On Wednesday, Stephen had the day off work which was a welcome relief. I often find Wednesday one of the toughest days of the week. Does anybody else? It’s because I’ve kinda run out of energy and enthusiasm by midweek and if we’ve been having particularly bad weather it usually means we’ve been stuck inside the house for days. Having Stephen home on a Wednesday is a very, very good thing.

In the morning we went to a new toddler group that had only just started up. Ordinarily, it would be too far for me to get to on my own (I don’t drive) but we had such a brilliant time that I’m now considering getting a taxi there and back each week. It’s often hard to find groups suitable for Jasmine’s age – she’s far too big for baby groups and too young to really benefit from some of the activities at toddler groups which are more suited to 3-year-olds.

However, this session was absolutely perfect. There was a variety of activities – all suitable for a 18-month-old, they had a great selection of toys, an outdoor playground area and they even provided a snack. It’s completely free to attend the group, too! We left the children’s centre clutching an array of semi-dry painted and decorated firework pictures. Jasmine napped pretty well that afternoon!

But the fun didn’t stop there, later that day we went to check out the local soft play centre (again, too far to get to by myself). We’d never been before as I always felt that Jasmine was a bit too young to get that much out if it and I dare not go on a weekend. She thoroughly enjoyed herself though and ran us ragged as she insisted on going down the slide approximately 5 million times.

I’m so happy to have my smiley girl back again…

Me & Mine {A Family Portrait Project} October 2015

Unfortunately, October has been very much dominated by illness in our house. Both myself and Stephen have had stinkin’ colds on and off for the last few weeks but our poor girl as suffered the most. She’s currently got a chest infection and a viral itchy rash over her entire body. I suppose that’s the downside to Jasmine going to nursery – she always seems to be ill these days!

Yucky bugs aside, we’ve still had some lovely  moments this month but my absolute favourite has to be our trip to Undley Pumpkin Patch. After our first visit there last year, I couldn’t wait to go back again this Autumn. We were planning to go twice this month but it’s looking likely that it won’t happen now whilst Jasmine is still feeling so poorly. I’m very glad I pulled a stranger aside and asked them to take a few snaps of us because I almost didn’t bother, thinking I’d get some next time we were there.

Now that Jasmine is a fully-fledged toddler she got a lot more out of the trip to the Pumpkin Patch than she did last year. You can read more about this year’s trip in this (very photo heavy) post.

What have you and your family been up to this October?

Have you visited a pumpkin patch?

Poorly {Living Arrows #13}

My sweet girl has been so under the weather this week. The Dr diagnosed her with a chest infection (which she now has antibiotics for) and as well as that she’s had an awful viral rash all over her body. She’s been constantly scratching at her skin and it’s been horrible to see her so uncomfortable. Yesterday, when I took these photos, she slept on the sofa for 4 and half hours. She clearly needed it as she hadn’t slept much in the few days prior.

Thankfully today (Friday) she seems to have bounced back a bit more – the sleep, medicine and Bunny hugs seem to be doing their job. I’m hoping it won’t be too much longer before I get my smiley, rambunctious toddler back. :)

Duck {Living Arrows #12}

I haven’t taken as many photos as I normally do this week.  Recently I haven’t been enjoying the things I usually do, and that includes blogging and photography (hence the radio silence on my blog). Despite the fact I only had a few photos to choose from, I still had terrible trouble picking which one to use for my Living Arrows post.

In the end I decided to use this one that I took on my phone yesterday because it made me smile. Only my daughter could look this serious whilst riding a duck…
