HappyDays #45

Hello Happy-dayers!

Welcome to this week’s Happy Days Linky – a place to link up your latest happy-themed blog posts and get that warm fuzzy feeling by reading other people’s. My co-host is the lovely Katy, be sure to pop over to her blog and say ‘hello’.

I’m back with you this week after taking a bit of bloggy break and having some quality family time on holiday in Norfolk. :) Unfortunately, this week we’ve all got colds and so we’re feeling pretty sorry for ourselves. Jasmine’s been waking up several times a night and we’re all feeling a bit knackered and rough around the edges. So what better time to write my happy list?!

Here’s what has been making me happy over the last couple of weeks:

  • We had such a fab holiday in Norfolk. We stayed in a little cottage in Holt which was the perfect base for exploring lots of the local beaches and seaside towns.
  • Getting a letter and CD (remember those?) in the post from my best friend, Jeni. You just cannot beat good old fashioned snail mail, can you?
  • I also received a pretty toad diary from the lovely Katie from Life On Vista Street – I’ve been using it loads this week and I feel so much more organised already!
  • I booked my Early Bird ticket for Mumsnet’s Blogfest in November. I really enjoyed it last year, although I was very overwhelmed as it was my first ever blogging conference. I’m hoping I’ll feel a bit more relaxed this time and enjoy it even more. Who else is going? :)
  •  Jasmine had two settling in sessions at nursery this week and she did really well. According to her key worker she ‘just got on with it’. That’s my girl! :)
  • After not attending my Slimming World group for most of the summer (it’s just too hectic with a toddler in toe) I went back yesterday. I am 0.5lb over my target weight but I’m sure I can get rid of that by next week.
  • And, on that note, I made Slimming World drop pancakes for Jasmine and I this morning (from the latest SW magazine) and they were so yummy. :)
  • You may remember that time I went dancing with strangers. Well, the DanceJoy folks are finally coming back to my town so I can start going dancing weekly again. I couldn’t make it this week but I’m hoping to go next Wednesday – I can’t wait to get my groove on!

Now it’s over to you to share some happy!

I hope you get over your colds quickly. You still managed to do lots. Well done on keeping to target after your holiday, I know how hard it is to keep it off when you have a family break!

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:49 pm

Thanks Catie – still have the colds but over the worst of it. I definitely ate more than I normally would whilst we were away. Always happens when I’m in Holiday Mode! x

Sorry to hear that you’ve all come back with colds but glad that you enjoyed your holiday in Norfolk and having a proper blogging break. Always good to have that time out to recharge, isn’t it? 0.5lb over your target weight sounds pretty good for having not gone to Slimming World over the summer. Hope you have fun dancing with strangers again and thank you for hosting #HappyDaysLinky :-)

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:48 pm

Thank you, Louise – it was such a lovely break and I definitely came back feeling recharged. :) I was expecting my weight gain to be a lot more than it was so I think I got off lightly… excuse the pun. Thanks for joining us, Louise. xx

Ahh, your family break sounds lovely (colds aside!) there’s nothing like a little break from the norm to recharge the batteries :) And also Jasmine’s bumblebee backpack is SO adorable! Very cute pic #HappyDaysLinky xx

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:47 pm

Isn’t it just?! I am obsessed with bumblebee things and Jasmine bags is one of my favourite bumblebee things EVER. It is so, so cute. xx

Ah I hope you guys get better soon. Germs hit our house last week too & the boys were home from school. Back to school time of year is always full of germs! I haven’t been to a blogging event of any kind yet, I’m hoping to attend one next year but coming from Ireland I’ll have to carefully choose which one I go for – which ones would you suggest? Thank you for hosting #HappyDays x

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:45 pm

Thanks Becky – we are over the worst of our colds now, thankfully. Hope you’re all feeling a bit better this week too. I think Blogfest was best for learning and Britmums was best for the social side of things. It depends what you want to get out of it? Both were great in their own way, though. xx

So sorry you’ve all been having colds. I’m glad though there are still many reasons to be happy. It’s so much fun receiving snail mail and the diary sounds cool too.

Thanks, Astrid. Over the worst with the colds now, thankfully. It’s true, I just love receiving letters from friends in the post. It always puts a smile on my face. xx

Thank you, Su – our Nofolk holiday was just what we needed. :) I really enjoyed Blogfest last year and learned a lot (more than I have at any other conferences). xx

I still love the sound of dancing with strangers, glad you are going back Jenna. Beautiful photo of you and Jasmine on the beach, lovely that you had a nice break and time together and well done on SW, only going 0.5lbs above your target is so good. I really struggle over summer but have managed to stay there or thereabouts! xx

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:39 pm

I have found target quite hard in general so I am pleased with just having the 0.5lb gain. I think winter is going to be harder as I love comfort food! Eeep. xx

I’m sorry to hear you’re not well BUT! I used to live in Holt when I was little! I moved to Norfolk from Wales when I was 3 and lived there until I was 10. My Dad used to be a conservationist on Holkham. It’s a lovely part of the world, glad you had a good time X

    • Jenna September 26, 2015 / 10:34 pm

Oh I adored Holt – it must have been a lovely place to live. And Holkham, well it was just stunning there. xx

      Aw thanks, Vickie. :)

Yes she is loving nursery and I feel so much better about, knowing she’s enjoying herself makes it much easier. :) xx

Oh glad you are going back dancing, sounded like so much fun before! Well done on not gaining much over the summer, can’t say the same for myself haha!! xxx

    • Jenna September 25, 2015 / 10:09 pm

Me too, I really missed it – and it was the only exercise I got! ;)

I was expecting a much bigger gain so was very pleased to find out it wasn’t as much as I thought. xx
